I know what you're thinking. We already have FireFlyFans.net, Browncoats.com, and the Firefly Wiki. Why in the black do we need another gorram Firefly/Serenity meta site? Hasn't this idea been done to death?

Well, it's like this. All of the meta sites I've seen so far do have an incredibly rich collection of links to really cool sites. But to find them, you have to wade through a plethora of equally cool unique content. Which is great if you have time to browse around and see the sights. But not so much if you just want a quick guide to what else is out there.

The BDB is my solution to this problem. With the exception of the little "BDB Extras" that are nicely separated from the rest of the site, the BDB will not provide content of its own. Instead, it will be a roadmap to help you find the terrific content that's already out there.

The sites are segregated into top-level categories, and will be further segregated into secondary level categories when they get too cluttered. And all links from the site are accompanied by a navigation bar that will let you find your way back to the BDB, to make cross-site surfing easy.

Additionally, the BDB any user to submit new site listings to the database, suggest corrections/edits to existing listings, and rate the sites in each category so that the most relevant sites automatically filter to the top of the list. That way the BDB will be sure to stay fresh and current, no matter how much the rest of my life might distract me from my this project.

In the future, I also have plans to add a calendar to which y'all can add Firefly-related events, and functionality to add links to reviews and photos of each event. And if you're good, maybe even a who's who feature that will allow you to post a photo of yourself and all your various screen names, so people can make the face-to-name connection when they're chatting with one another on the boards. But that will have to wait a while, since I'm currently in a mad frenzy preparing for the ComicCon charity raffle.

I hope you enjoy the site, and would love to hear any feedback you might have to offer. In the meantime, I know I'll be using it myself.

PS: My thanks go out to Tzegha, who compiled such an immense list of Firefly web sites for me in the beginning that I didn't even have time to add them all to the BDB. Without her moral support and constructive input, the BDB would have been a much smaller, much uglier end product, if it were even finished at all.
